Even with covid shutting down many smaller business, the construction jobs have been flourishing more than ever. In July there were over 300,000 construction jobs available in the US. One of the reasons is that the housing market is underbuilt at the moment and they need all the help they can get. Overall, the hiring rate increased to 5.2%. Hiring generally, has been slowing down since 5/2020. The layoff rate however has falling to 2.4% from 10% just a year ago.
Key Takeaways:

- The construction sector remained the same at 5.2% hiring rate. During covid it was as high as 10.3%
- Layoffs on the other hand had a 2.4% rate. Job openings were down to 4.2% though.
“The job openings rate in construction edged down to 4.2% in July, with 321,000 open positions in the sector.”
